As one of the eight publicly funded universities in Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is a higher education institution dedicated to the advancement of teaching and learning through diverse academic and research programmes on teacher education and complementary disciplines, including social sciences, humanities, science and etc. We nurture educators and social leaders who are intellectually active, socially caring, and globally aware to become agents of change in the communities they serve. We place great emphasis on research capability with the aim of contributing to the advancement of knowledge, scholarship and innovation. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, EdUHK is ranked 5th in Asia and 20th in the World in Education, enjoying reputation widely recognised in the international community.
EdUHK encompasses one Graduate School and three Faculties, including Faculty of Education and Human Development, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Besides, it sets up two Academies, namely Academy for Educational Development and Innovation and Academy for Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures, covering the fields of education, social sciences and humanities, to promote innovative research and knowledge transfer.
Currently, EdUHK has about 400 teaching staff, offering a range of programmes at the doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s levels, as well as postgraduate diploma in education programmes to around 9,000 students. In addition, it has also actively established a huge collaboration network with government departments, NGOs and universities around the world. At present, it has established close partnerships with more than 200 universities and institutions, covering 40 countries and regions in America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Greater China.
In terms of academic programmes, EdUHK undertakes educational programmes in different areas and offers multidisciplinary programmes in humanities and social sciences, covering artificial intelligence and educational technology, heritage education and arts management, sports science and coaching, psychology, language studies, creative arts and culture, and special education. Moreover, EdUHK also launches co-terminal double degree programmes, allowing students to have more choices in subjects and creating greater opportunities for their future.
