Introduction

Established since 2006, Cilantro Culinary Academy insists on its mission – To guide youths to become accomplished professionals in both the culinary and pastry sectors throughout Malaysia. The three main programmes offered are Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts & Advanced Diploma in Patisserie.

There are many reasons why you should choose Cilantro Culinary Academy to pursue your studies in Culinary Arts or Patisserie:

1) International Recognition
In 2011, Cilantro Culinary Academy became Malaysia’s first vocational culinary and pastry academy to receive the prestigious Worldchefs Recognition of Quality Culinary Education Award for defining and assuring quality in the delivery of culinary education services to its students. Also, due to the academy’s outstanding contribution and the positive impact it brought to its students in the food and beverage industry, Cilantro Culinary Academy was awarded “The International Centre of Excellence – Asia Pacific” in 2017 by City & Guilds, a world leader in skills development. This title is awarded to only a total of 5 centres across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Caribbean, Middle East, and South Asia each year.

2) Largest Private Vocational Culinary and Pastry Academy in Malaysia
Equipped with 22 international standard kitchens and taught by a line-up of chef instructors with extensive work experience in hotels, Cilantro Culinary Academy aims to provide the best vocational culinary and patisserie education to those who aspire to become a chef.

3) Emphasis on Practical Learning
All tutorial classes are conducted in small class sizes to ensure that the instructors are able to monitor each student’s work closely. By prioritizing hands-on practical skills, it emphasizes on teaching students to make each component from scratch, discouraging the use of pre-mixed ingredients in class.

Here, students spend 70% to 90% of their time to master the extensive practical knowledge and skills in the kitchen. As the saying goes “Practice Makes Perfect”, it believes in equipping its students with essential skills and knowledge necessary to master their craft and become more adaptable to a fast-changing workplace in the future.

The remainder of the student’s time is spent in classrooms learning subjects such as budgeting, cost management, nutrition, and more. Students are also presented many opportunities to practice what they have learned in the kitchen, such as project tasks (restaurant and café operation), participating in competitions locally or abroad, and completing a 3-month guaranteed On-Job Training placement at partnering hotels. Career Planning Service offered through our own employment agency is a long-term support service for graduates seeking job opportunities.

4) 5 Qualifications in 1 Programme

In a knowledge and skills driven economy, qualifications that are widely recognized play an important role in providing access to employment and career growth, as well as enabling life-long learning opportunities in high education institutions. Students from Cilantro Culinary Academy have the opportunity to obtain up to 5 qualifications from 4 countries, including local and international awarding bodies to provide them a competitive edge, enhancing their employability and career prospects.
